Startup Wrap: MENA Attracts Fresh Funding all Technology Sectors | Arebian World Wide Magazine

Startups across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) secured fresh funding this week, highlighting continued investment in financial technology and artificial intelligence-driven solutions. Egyptian fintech MNT-Halan began trading on the Egyptian Exchange, while Kuwaiti consumer-research startup theQA raised pre-seed capital to support its expansion and product development.

MNT-Halan Begins Trading on Egyptian Exchange

Egyptian fintech company MNT-Halan commenced trading on the Egyptian Exchange under the ticker symbol HALN.CA following an initial public offering (IPO) of 320 million existing shares, representing 20 percent of its issued capital.

The offering attracted significant investor demand. The institutional and private tranche was oversubscribed 11.2 times, increasing to 19.4 times when cornerstone investors were excluded. Meanwhile, the retail tranche was oversubscribed 43.6 times, attracting more than 41,500 subscription orders.

Founded by Mounir Nakhla, MNT-Halan provides a range of financial and digital services, including lending, payments, investment products and e-commerce. The company has expanded its customer base through its integrated platform, serving approximately 7.9 million customers as of June 30.

By the same date, MNT-Halan had disbursed more than EGP178 billion in financing, underscoring its growing presence in Egypt’s financial services market. Its stock market debut marks a significant development for the company as it continues to scale its operations and services.

TheQA Raises More Than $550,000 in Pre-Seed Funding

Kuwaiti consumer-research startup theQA has raised more than $550,000 in a pre-seed funding round from a local family office and strategic angel investors.

Founded in 2025 by Ahmad Al-Ebrahim and Hussain Al-Nashabah, the company operates a platform that enables businesses to create AI-assisted surveys and connect with targeted audiences. Its technology aims to help organisations gather consumer insights and conduct research more efficiently.

Since April 2025, theQA has assembled a network of more than 20,000 verified participants, providing businesses with access to a growing pool of respondents for market research and consumer feedback.

The startup plans to use the newly raised capital to expand its presence in Kuwait and enhance its research tools. These investments are expected to support the platform’s development as it seeks to serve more businesses and strengthen its capabilities.

Technology Investment Continues Across MENA

The latest developments reflect funding activity across different stages of the startup lifecycle in the region. While MNT-Halan’s public listing demonstrates its scale and established market presence, theQA’s pre-seed round highlights continued investor interest in early-stage technology ventures.
